Customers began to approach hosting provider SysEleven about running containers and using container orchestration. To offer their customers the highest quality services for which they are known, they sought an easy to use container orchestra- tion solution. SysEleven chose to partner with Loodse to create MetaKube, a white label of Loodse’s Kubermatic Container Engine, giving their customers Kubernetes clusters in one click. Simon Pearce, MetaKube Team Lead and Systems Architect at SysEleven, explains why they chose Kubermatic to run Kubernetes in their data centers.

In recent years, data has had a resurgence being labeled as one of the newer trends in education. The reality is data and schools go hand in hand. The concept of collecting and utilizing data in education dates back as early as the 1800’s. So, what’s different and why now? Is it the increased availability, a better understanding of its potential, or signs that a long-awaited paradigm shift may be coming? I would argue it’s a combination of all three. Customers today are far more concerned about the contents and origin of a product than ever before. in such a scenario, granting them easy access to product information, via digital initiatives such as SmartLabel™, goes a long way in strengthening customer trust in a brand. But it also means expending several man-hours of effort processing unstructured data, with the possibility of human error. Intelligent automation can help save effort and time, with virtually error-free results. A consumer products conglomerate wanted a smart solution to implement SmartLabel™ compliance. See how Infosys helped and the five key takeaways from the project.

In today’s digital economy, consumer products (CP) companies face pressures from all sides. Consumers wield great power based on easy access to information about products, pricing, and availability. The barriers of entry for new players with the “next big product idea” are lower than ever. At the same time, channel partners, from big retailers to Amazon, are expanding their own private-label businesses. Added to all that, tremendous volatility persists in the basic costs of doing business, from raw materials, to labor, to shipping, and beyond.

Employers may ask a consumer reporting agency (CRA) to implement internal systems to evaluate background checks as part of the hiring process. An adjudication matrix (also known as a hiring matrix) is commonly used by employers to designate what types of crimes over certain time periods may make an individual ineligible for employment. An adjudication matrix will typically contain labels such as “clear” or “ineligible” that designate how the individual’s background check results lined up with the matrix.

When it came time for Southwest Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) to deploy a new barcode medication administration (BCMA) system, SVMC chose a Zebra positive patient ID system consisting of barcode printers, scanners, software tools, media and labels. Since that time, over two million medication doses have been administered. Nurses have been able to achieve an average medication scan rate of over 95% and a patient identification scan rate in excess of 99% for inpatient units. Even more impressive, these results have been sustained over a five-year period.

Labeling blood and other samples at the time they are collected improves patient safety and helps prevent a host of problems related to misidentification — including many of the estimated 160,900 adverse events that occur in U.S. hospitals annually because of sample identification errors. There is a strong and growing body of evidence within medical literature that creating specimen identification labels on demand at the patient bedside with a mobile printer can significantly reduce errors. The Joint Commission’s National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG) advocate the use of two patient-specific identifiers, such as name and birthdate, whenever taking blood or other samples from a patient, and to label the sample collection container in the presence of the patient.

Detecting and preventing errors that threaten patient safety is a closed-loop process that begins at the point of care, extends to independent laboratories, and then back to the caregiver. Sample identification and results reporting errors can lead to misdiagnosis and inappropriate treatment with deadly consequences. A 2006 Wall Street Journal article reported that while malpractice claims for pathology errors are relatively low, they are the second most costly. In addition to creating a serious risk to patient safety, sample misidentification creates significant financial implications. Redraws, retesting and additional treatment that result from sample errors cost the healthcare industry an estimated $200 million to $400 million per year.

The client had an extensive global multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) network with over 30 Gbps of bandwidth. However, the client was experiencing bandwidth growth of >30% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) and foresaw increasing demands for multi-media applications, data center to data center traffic, and cloud solution usage to support its business units and global workforce. It became crucial for the client to re-architect their current network to support growth and provide a globally consistent user experience at lower cost. With 40% of their WAN traffic being http internet traffic, they needed regional internet service provider (ISP) breakouts. The client needed a lower cost/MB high capacity WAN backbone for better application performance and cloud optimization. Their network needed to be scalable to poise them for anticipated growth and offer improved site connectivity options.
