The 21st century marks the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning capabilities for mass consumption. A staggering surge of machine learning has been applied for myriad of uses — from self-driving cars to curing cancer. AI and machine learning have only recently entered the world of cybersecurity, but it’s occurring just in time. According to Gartner Research, the total market for all security will surpass $100B in 2019. Companies are looking to spend on innovation to secure against cyberthreats. As a result, more tech startups today tout AI to secure funding; and more established vendors now claim to embed machine learning in their products. Yet, the hype around AI and machine learning — what they are and how they work — has created confusion in the marketplace. How do you make sense of the claims? Can you test for yourself to know the truth? Cylance leads the cybersecurity world of AI. The company spearheaded an innovation revolution by replacing legacy antivirus software with predictive, preventative solutions and services that protect the endpoint — and the organization. Cylance stops zero-day threats and the most sophisticated known and unknown attacks. Read more in this analytical white paper.

Imagine getting into your car and saying, “Take me to work,” and then enjoying an automated drive as you read the morning news. We are getting very close to that kind of scenario, and companies like Ford expect to have production vehicles in the latter part of 2020. Driverless cars are just one popular example of machine learning. It’s also used in countless applications such as predicting fraud, identifying terrorists, recommending the right products to customers at the right time, and correctly identifying medical symptoms to prescribe appropriate treatments. The concept of machine learning has been around for decades. What’s new is that it can now be applied to huge quantities of data. Cheaper data storage, distributed processing, more powerful computers and new analytical opportunities have dramatically increased interest in machine learning systems. Other reasons for the increased momentum include: maturing capabilities with methods and algorithms refactored to run in memory; the

This Gleansight benchmark report is based on the experiences of 229 companies and includes the following sections: Reasons to Implement, Challenges, Value Drivers, Core Technologies and Success Story. It also includes a Vendor Landscape with descriptions and analysis of 32 solution providers. Most organizations today have business intelligence (BI) tools or at least some way of churning out reports. Fewer have a true business intelligence strategy or a well-architected BI platform for generating actionable insights. Broadly considered, BI encompasses all aspects of gathering, storing, cleansing, analyzing and distributing data. This Gleansight benchmark report reveals how Top Performers are justifying their investments in next-generation BI capabilities, how they're overcoming implementation and organizational hurdles, and how, as a result of their investments, they're now able to make more timely and better informed business decisions across multiple organizational functions.

The key to making big data initiatives a success lies within making the produced data more digestible and usable in decision making, rather than making it just ‘more,’ resulting in the creation of an environment wherein information is used to generate real impact. Put another way, the survival of Big Data is more about making the right data (not just higher volume) available to the right people (not just higher variety) at the right time (not just higher velocity).

Let’s face it: In this economy, justifying new investments can be tough. Most companies are in belt-tightening mode, not shopping mode. And budgets are getting leaner. But sometimes it makes sense to invest. The recession won’t last forever. Forward thinking companies are already thinking about how to prepare for the upturn — in fact, many are marketing their way through the recession, taking advantage of low media prices and a relatively stark competitive landscape in order to better stand out and gain market share. Medium organizations around the globe are increasingly concerned about cyberthreats, and the rising number of incidents shared publicly certainly justifies their worries. In the first half of 2009, for example, McAfee Labs saw almost as much new malware as it did in all of 2008. At the same time, most organizations have frozen or cut their IT security budgets. Threats up, budgets down. This is what we call the "security paradox."

After $20,000 in direct losses and who knows how many lost opportunities, we just couldn't stay in reaction mode. We went looking for a proactive solution and found iovation. We were drawn to the idea of sharing fraud profiles with other subscribers. Plus, the fraud checking is done in real time and it scales to volume which eased my concerns about customer impact. Implementation was straightforward. Preventing half the fraud attempts each month pays for the system; we've seen a 95% reduction in our chargeback rate in 8 months.

The Department of Homeland Security puts businesses in two categories: those who have already experienced the pain of losing valuable electronic data, and those who will at some point in the future. Well-prepared businesses know that deploying the right resources, processes and technology to protect vital HR information is important, but having adequate resources and technology in place to protect the same invaluable data in branch offices is just as important, though often overlooked. This paper will teach you how real-time data replication software can automatically backup branch office data to a central server for a simpler, more reliable and cost-effective way to protect your branch.

Did you know that 97% of business executives want social integrated across their enterprise? According to a recent Oracle global study, respondents nearly unanimously sang the praises of becoming a social business. Social gives you a window into the consumer like never before, revealing affinities that allow your business to understand and personalize engagements that build stronger customer relationships. Consumers don’t see social as a “marketing channel”. They just view it as part of their communications; it’s embedded in their daily mobile and digital experiences. Businesses should be thinking the same way. As Altimeter sees it, social business is the deep integration of social media and social methodologies into the organization to drive business impact

The technology pendulum is always swinging. And chief information security officers must be prepared to swing with it—or get clocked. A look at recent history illustrates the oscillating nature of technology. In the 1980s, IBM mainframes dominated the landscape. In the ’90s, client-server computing came on the scene and data was distributed on personal computers. When the Web assumed predominance, the pendulum started to swing back to a centralized server. Then, just as quickly, mobile took the lead, with apps downloaded to workers’ devices—the new client server. Now, as mobile devices continue to populate the enterprise at a rapid rate, the IT model is changing again—to the provisioning of information on a just-what’s-needed, just-in-time basis from centralized servers consolidated in the cloud. The pendulum continues to swing and IT workloads are moving to the cloud en masse.

Just as business intelligence helps enterprises make decisions that maximize opportunities and minimize business risks, security intelligence enables them to better detect threats, identify security risks and areas of noncompliance, and set priorities for remediation. One of the most compelling arguments for security intelligence is operational efficiency, or better use of people, time and infrastructure. This white paper discusses how security intelligence is an essential ingredient to comprehensive and cost-effective information security.

Machine learning systems don’t just extract insights from the data they are fed, as traditional analytics do. They actually change the underlying algorithm based on what they learn from the data. So the “garbage in, garbage out” truism that applies to all analytic pursuits is truer than ever. Few companies are already using AI, but 72 percent of business leaders responding to a PWC survey say it will be fundamental in the future. Now is the time for executives, particularly the chief data officer, to decide on data management strategy, technology and best practices that will be essential for continued success.
