A private cloud delivers control, security and customization–which are non-negotiable criteria for many businesses. But for those undeniable benefits, private cloud environments come at a cost, requiring significant initial and ongoing investment of both capital and human resources, as well as requiring expert technical support for architecting and upkeep. In this study by Principled Technologies, read how the highly automated Lenovo ThinkAgile CP composable cloud solution, powered by the Intel® Xeon® Platinum processor, deliver key private cloud benefits while remaining cost effective, rapid to deploy, and simple to manage.

Cloud adoption is an expanding part of IT organizations’ strategies, and IT architects are growing more sophisticated in how they think about cloud; however, as of early 2015, relatively few organizations have truly advanced levels of cloud maturity. In IDC’s recent worldwide CloudView Survey, we discovered that nearly 60% of organizations are currently using or planning to implement some form of cloud — whether for a single project or their portfolio, for test/development environments, or to run mission-critical applications 24 x 7 — but only 25% have reached the level that IDC would call “mature”— that is, building repeatable, managed, or optimized cloud strategies. There is significant room for improvement.

Your data is everywhere. It’s in the cloud, in virtual environments, in remote offices, and on mobile devices. Plus, there’s more of it, and much of it is business-critical, meaning you need to back up larger volumes of data than ever before without adding costs or bandwidth. Even more importantly, you need the ability to restore data quickly in the event of a disaster, failure, outage. The cost of data protection is higher now more than ever.

HP, a $120 billion company with five major business lines and an employee base of more than 300,000 people, faces many of the same IT challenges as other global enterprises at hyperscale: it must accommodate ever-increasing demands for business services without allowing its IT costs to spiral out of control. So the company embraced a solution from its own hardware portfolio: HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage, modern Tier-1 storage for mission-critical IT-as-a-Service (ITaaS) and cloud environments. And the benefits of implementing this storage solution have been substantial, including increased storage capacity and density, as well as more agile, responsive IT services that better meet HP’s business needs.

Many organizations are now moving parts of their IT infrastructure to the Cloud. However, managing these resources within a comprehensive management framework is still essential. And the management approach for these hybrid environments needs to take a step forward and start to focus on service level management, not the care and feeding of discrete components. This whitepaper provides the information needed on implementing Business Service Management (BSM) in hybrid environments.
